Sylkie, or Selkie, are an old Northern European, coastal legend. The story is that seals or sea lions can transform into young girls and back again, and represent innocence. The legend is one of many that shows an awareness of our closeness to other living creatures. These Sylkie watch as the Gaia burns and the ocean encroaches. The boat represents our safety on earth.
